Horfield Community Survey - what do you think?

Since the Neighbourhood Partnership finished in Spring 2017, a group of schools and organisations has been working together with the local councillors, Claire Hiscott and Olly Mead, on a VERY different approach to local democracy.

We wanted to look at a fresh new approach of engaging residents, particularly children and young people in making a difference in their local area. To do this we have put together a short survey to find out what people like about living in Horfield, what you want to change and how you could help to change it.

The survey will be launched on 1st January 2018 for one month. All five local schools, Filton Avenue Primary & Children’s Centre, Horfield CofE Primary, Orchard School, St Teresa’s Catholic Primary and Upper Horfield Community School will be helping students fill it in. This will give a great picture of what children and young people across Horfield think about where they live.

However, we do not just want the views of children and young people. We want to know what you think. So if you are passionate about changing things in your local area, want to help children and young people make a difference or just have an opinion on the good, the bad or the ugly of Horfield then please fill out a survey!

At the end of January we will be looking at the data with the School Councils, from this the results will be presented at a Community Conference on March 22nd . This conference will be an opportunity for the local community to work with children and young people to develop ideas to make a difference to where they live.

Horfield Leisure Centre supported us to produce this survey and have a few questions of their own. So, if you love the Leisure Centre, or don’t use it but would like to, then this is your opportunity to let them know.

The survey can be found here tinyurl.com/horfieldsurvey or in your child’s book bag, or come along to a drop in session to let us know what you think:

Tuesday 16th January 4-6pm at Horfield Leisure Centre

Thursday 18th January 10.30-12.30 at Ebenezer Church

Wednesday 24th January 4-6pm at Horfield Leisure Centre

Thursday 25th January 10.30-12.30 Ebenezer Church

We are planning some more sessions, so look out for flyers in community locations and on the Love Horfield Facebook group.

In addition to those already mentioned, thank you to Ebenezer Church, Upper Horfield Community Trust, Bristol Ageing Better at Buzz Lockleaze, Churches Together and United Communities for helping to get this far!
